Hong Konger Lindsay Varty is an award winning author who speaks regularly at schools, universities, clubs, associations and societies on the topic of her book, Sunset Survivors, and the importance of preserving Hong Kong's unique cultural identity.
Her presentations include the beautiful photography from the book as well as intriguing insights and anecdotes from some of the interviews with the fascinating characters in Sunset Survivors who have worked tirelessly to maintain their ancient practices and traditional industries in a rapidly modernising metropolis. Her talks evoke nostalgic memories of life in old Hong Kong and enlighten listeners about the city's vibrant cultural identity and the need to protect it before it's too late.
Lindsay has given presentations at numerous schools (primary-tertiary), private functions, and for many organisations including The Asia Society HK, The Royal Geographical Society, The Helena May, The American Women's Association, The Hong Kong Club, and The Royal Commonwealth Society of Hong Kong.
Presentations range between 20 minutes and one hour and can be suited to any audience.
Lindsay's visit to ISF was fantastic.  She was a joy to work with.  The students were captivated and the teachers were very complimentary.  I would recommend a visit with her anytime.
